Flat grey sheeting
Usually plain grey panels between timber or steel posts — sometimes with a corrugated or "super six" profile.
Removed & Replaced
We remove Hardifence ourselves. Asbestos is different — that goes to a licensed removalist we arrange. Either way it's one quote, one point of contact, and your new fence straight after.
How It Works
Replacing an old fibro boundary is really two jobs: the old sheeting has to come out and be disposed of properly, then a new fence has to go up. What that first part involves depends on what the sheeting actually is.
Hardifence we remove ourselves, as part of the same job — no third party, no extra scheduling. Asbestos is different. We're not a licensed asbestos removalist, so we engage a licensed contractor to carry out the removal and disposal, and we install the new fence once the site is clear.
Either way the removal appears as its own line on our quote, so you can see exactly what it costs — and you still deal with one business and get one invoice.
Is Your Fence Fibro?
Fibre cement fencing put up in WA before the late 1980s often contains asbestos. A few things to look for from a safe distance.
Usually plain grey panels between timber or steel posts — sometimes with a corrugated or "super six" profile.
Old fibro goes brittle. Chipped corners, hairline cracks and a chalky surface are typical of an ageing sheet.
Age is the strongest clue. If the fence is original to an older Perth home, treat it as suspect until tested.
The Process
We measure the run, look at access, and confirm what's there before pricing anything.
Licensed removal and disposal on one line, your new fence on another. No surprises later.
The licensed contractor removes, wraps and disposes of the old sheeting to WA requirements.
Posts set in concrete, panels run level, site swept, and we walk the line with you.
Common Questions
Not necessarily. Fibre cement sheeting made before about 1987 usually does contain asbestos; later Hardifence does not. Newer sheeting we remove ourselves. If it looks like the older product, we treat it as asbestos until it's tested.
For asbestos, yes — in WA, removing more than 10 square metres of non-friable asbestos requires a licensed removalist, and most boundary runs are well over that. We're not licensed ourselves, so we bring in a contractor who is. Newer Hardifence doesn't need one, and we handle it in-house.
One, either way. The removal is itemised separately on our quote so you can see what each part costs, but you deal with us and receive a single invoice.
Hardifence removal usually folds into the install, so there's nothing extra to schedule. Asbestos removal is typically a day of its own, with the new fence going in shortly after. We confirm the dates with you before anything starts.
Asbestos is wrapped, transported and disposed of at a facility licensed to accept asbestos waste — never a skip or general waste. Non-asbestos Hardifence we take away and dispose of ourselves.
Usually, yes. Colorbond comes in a full colour range and we can match an existing run or go with something new — your call.
That's common on older blocks. We'll quote removal for just the affected section and new fencing for the whole run so it finishes consistently.
